Privacy Policy

Effective date: 22 July 2026. Last updated: 24 July 2026.

This policy explains what we collect, who gets it, and what you can do about it. We’ve written it in plain English, because a privacy policy you can’t understand isn’t really a disclosure.

The short version

  • Yes, this site tracks you. We use analytics and advertising technology from Google, Meta (Facebook), and Pinterest. Those companies set cookies and receive information about your visit.
  • Some of that counts as “selling” or “sharing” your information under California and other state privacy laws — even though no money changes hands for your data. We explain this honestly below rather than hiding behind a technicality.
  • We don’t sell your email address. Your email goes to our newsletter and nowhere else.
  • You can opt out. See Your choices.

Who we are

Deal Diary is published by Atlas Online Inc., a Florida corporation (“Atlas Online,” “we,” “us”). Atlas Online Inc. is the business responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your name and email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter or request a free resource.
  • The preferences you choose in our signup quiz — the kinds of deals you want, and whether you’re interested in paid opportunities (such as surveys) or in topics like education or paying down debt. We use these to decide which deals and offers to send you, and we never send a paid-opportunity offer you didn’t opt into.
  • Anything you send us directly — for example, replying to one of our emails.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, we and our advertising and analytics partners may automatically collect:

  • Device and connection data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, screen size.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, scroll depth, the site you arrived from, and the approximate location your IP address suggests (typically city or region level).
  • Identifiers stored on your device — cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, including advertising identifiers used to recognise your browser across different websites.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers, health information, or precise GPS location. Please don’t send us any of that.

We use the following. This list is specific on purpose — you’re entitled to know exactly who is on this page with you.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

Other parties may collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you visit this site. That is what the advertising and analytics tools listed above do.

Advertising, and what “sale” and “sharing” mean here

We want to be straight with you about this, because a lot of sites aren’t.

We do not take money in exchange for handing over lists of our readers. But under California’s privacy law (and similar laws in other states), letting advertising companies like Google, Meta, and Pinterest collect information through our site for cross-context behavioural advertising can count as “selling” or “sharing” your personal information — whether or not any money changes hands for the data itself.

So rather than claim we never sell or share your data, we’ll tell you plainly: we use advertising technology that may meet the legal definition of sharing, and here is how to turn it off. See Your choices below.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

How we use information

  • To send you the newsletter and free resources you asked for.
  • To tailor which deals and offers we send you, based on the preferences you selected — and to make sure paid-opportunity offers only go to people who opted into them.
  • To run and improve the site — understanding which articles are useful and which aren’t.
  • To earn a living: showing ads, and earning commissions when you use our affiliate links.
  • To measure whether our own advertising works, so we don’t waste money reaching the wrong people.
  • To keep the site secure and to comply with the law.

We don’t use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Who we share information with

We disclose the categories of information described above to these categories of third parties:

  • Advertising and analytics companies — Google, Meta, Pinterest (identifiers, device and usage data).
  • Affiliate networks and retailers — when you click an affiliate link (click and referral data).
  • Our email provider — to deliver the newsletter (your email address and engagement data).
  • Hosting, security, and infrastructure providers — to keep the site running.
  • Legal and safety — if we’re legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
  • A future buyer — if Deal Diary is ever sold or merged, information would transfer with it.

When you click through to a partner or retailer, their privacy policy governs what they do. We’re not responsible for third-party sites. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Your choices

  • Email: unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any message. We’ll action it promptly and always within 10 business days.
  • Personalised ads: Google Ads Settings · aboutads.info/choices · NAI opt-out · Your Online Choices (EU).
  • Cookies generally: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking them may break parts of this or other sites.
  • Ask us directly: email [email protected] to access, correct, or delete what we hold about you, or to opt out of sale/sharing. We operate entirely online, so email is our designated request method.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser, and we act on it.

Do Not Track (DNT): browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting, but there is still no common industry standard for how sites must respond to it. We do not currently respond to DNT signals. We do respond to GPC, described above, and you can use any of the opt-out tools listed in Your choices.

Your rights under state privacy laws

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: know what personal information we collect and how we use it; get a copy of it; correct it; delete it; opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Some states also give you the right to appeal if we refuse a request.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We’ll confirm receipt and respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need a further extension. We may need to verify your identity — usually by confirming you control the email address involved. You can use an authorised agent; we may ask for proof of their authority.

How long we keep information

  • Newsletter email addresses: until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we don’t email you again by mistake.
  • Analytics data: per our provider’s retention settings, generally no more than 14 months.
  • Advertising data held by Meta: Meta states it retains event data for a maximum of two years. Pinterest states advertising data is deleted or anonymised within six months.
  • Server and security logs: a short rolling window kept by our host and CDN.

Security

We use HTTPS across the site, keep software updated, and limit who can access our systems. No website can promise perfect security, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Visitors from the EEA and UK

Deal Diary is aimed at readers in the United States and we don’t target the EEA or UK. If you visit from there, you’ll be asked for consent before non-essential cookies and advertising technologies load, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through the same control. Information is processed in the United States.

Reviewing or changing your information

Email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you review, update, or remove the personal information we hold.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top, post the revised policy on this page, and — for significant changes — tell newsletter subscribers by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
